HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall Ticket Office has seen an increase in 2018 football season ticket interest over the last few months as the Herd comes off eight wins and a bowl victory to end the 2017 season.

“The economic challenges in our great state of West Virginia, coupled with a disappointing 2016 season, left our season ticket sales short of where we wanted them to be a year ago,” said Aaron Goebbel, Marshall’s Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. “We took the information we gathered last year and made adjustments that we feel our fans will find very attractive.”

Thundering Herd fans will see positive changes when purchasing their season tickets in 2018. Season ticket prices across most areas of Joan C. Edwards Stadium will be significantly lowered this season.

“We lowered prices in all areas this year, except the upper end zone season ticket, which will still be only $99 for all six home games,” said Cole Woodrum, Director of Ticketing. “We want to alleviate the financial commitment of purchasing season tickets, so lowering ticket prices, while also adding new payment options and other benefits, has been a major focal point for these changes.”

One of the most notable benefits will come in the east side sections of 109 and 111 where Herd fans will, not only pay a cheaper price for their midfield tickets, but will also receive a complimentary cushioned seatback for the duration of the season.

Herd fans will see the biggest price difference in the sideline sections of 107 and 113 where prices went from $241 per ticket with a $60 required contribution to the Big Green Scholarship Foundation in 2017, to $185 per ticket with no required contribution in 2018.

“Even though these sections no longer require a contribution to the Big Green, we know that these individuals will continue to support our student-athletes through philanthropic giving as they always have,” said Teddy Kluemper III, Assistant Athletic Director for Development. Tickets in these sections, which are at the 40-yard line, will cost only $28-30 per month, per ticket, between now and September 1 when using the ticket office’s new monthly payment plan option.

The season ticket renewal deadline is this Friday (April 20). Individuals who have not renewed their season tickets by this time will have their orders cancelled. Starting Monday (April 23), ticket office staff members will be calling all season ticket holders who requested a change or addition to their orders. Once all season ticket holders who requested changes have been assisted, all first-time buyers who have already paid for their 2018 season tickets will be given the option to select their new season tickets.

The ticket office will hold the first season ticket Choose-Your-Seat Day on Saturday, April 28 at 12:30 p.m. before the Green and White Scrimmage. This will be the first opportunity to see open ticket availability, in person, for all of those in the Thundering Herd family who did not have season tickets last year but are interested in purchasing them for the 2018 season. Season tickets with an open seat map will be placed on starting Monday, April 30 at 9 a.m.
