HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Saturday's 4 p.m. Green & White Spring Game at Joan C. Edwards Stadium promises to be one of the most eventful spring football games on record. Fans will be treated to not only Marshall's final spring scrimmage of the year, but have a chance to see members of the undefeated 1996 Thundering Herd National Championship Team, win prizes that range from NFL tickets to a spot as an extra in the "We Are Marshall" movie, and have an opportunity to be in a halftime crowd scene for the upcoming motion picture.

"This is going to be a lot of fun," Marshall University head football coach Mark Snyder said. "This is an exciting time for Marshall and Huntington. There are going to be great giveaways, the chance to be in the movie, and to come out and honor a truly special group of guys. What the 1996 team did, going 15-0 is a remarkable accomplishment and to have them here is truly special."

Tickets to the game are $5 and can be purchased at the gate or through the Marshall University ticket office at 1-800-THE-HERD. Marshall University students will be admitted free with a valid student ID. Parking is also available on the stadium's West Lot for $10. All ticket and parking proceeds go to the Marshall University Quarterback Club.

Fans are encouraged to take part in the spring game version of the "Thunder Walk" at 2 p.m. in the stadium's West Lot. The 1996 team and this year's Thundering Herd will be participating in the now regular pre-game ritual.

Members of the 1996 team, which include such NFL standouts as Randy Moss, Chad Pennington and John Wade, will also serve as honorary coaches during the contest and the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive special edition 2006 Marshall football schedule posters.

The MU Quarterback Club will be conducting a raffle throughout the game. Among the raffle prizes are ticket packages to several NFL games featuring Marshall alums, various Marshall memorabilia, and a special prize package coutesy of Warner Brothers and Executive Producer Brent O'Conner that includes round-trip airfare, two nights accomodations in Atlanta, two parts as extra's in the We Are Marshall movie, and dinner with the crew.

At halftime fans will have a chance to be a part of the upcoming We Are Marshall movie. Warner Brothers will be filming crowd shots at the half for use in the film.

"Saturday is for the fans and the 1996 team," Snyder said. "This is going to be a great event and I hope all Herd fans come out and enjoy the festivities."

Wednesday Marshall's seniors and coaching staffs held a spring game draft at the Shewey Athletic Center to determine the two team's for Saturday's game. Each team drafted position by position until every underclassman was taken off of the draft board. The two team rosters are attached.
