A Full Weekend of Events Set for Marshall Athletics

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Country music group Gloriana will perform a concert immediately following Marshall's annual Green & White Spring Football Game presented by Kroger at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Saturday, April 24. The post-game concert will close out an exciting weekend full of activities surrounding Thundering Herd Athletics. Kickoff for the Green & White Spring Game presented by Kroger is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. The ticket price includes admission for both the spring football game and the post-game concert by Gloriana.

Tickets for the spring game and concert are available for pre-sale through the Marshall University Athletic Ticket Office. Tickets can be ordered online at www.Herdzone.com or by calling 1-800-THE-HERD. All tickets are general admission on the west side of the stadium.

Parking for the Green & White game presented by Kroger will be available for $10 on a first come, first serve basis on the Stadium West Lot, the West Lot Annex and the Softball parking lots. Parking in the Third Avenue Parking Garage is also available for only $5.

The weekend of activities will begin Friday, April 23 with the largest Big Green Foundation Dinner in history. The Big Green Scholarship Foundation Dinner and a special "Sons of Marshall" Hall of Fame Induction presented by Pepsi and Sheetz is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, April 23 at the Marshall Student Recreation Center and a crowd estimated in excess of 1,100 is expected to attend. The banquet features NFL players Chad Pennington, Randy Moss, Byron Leftwich and John Wade who all played collegiately at Marshall. This event is sold out and attendees are asked to refrain from bringing items to be autographed to the dinner. There will be no autograph session involving the Hall of Fame inductees and outside items will not be allowed into the dinner.

Marshall Athletics will also conduct an M-Club Town Hall Meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, in the Cam Henderson Center. Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick, M-Club President Steve Williams and Chad Pennington will lead the meeting specifically designed for former letter winners. This meeting is open to former athletes and their families only. To RSVP for this event contact John McCoy in the M-Club office at 304-696-3978. All former letter winners and their families are also invited to a pre-game tailgate scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the M-Club Pavillion off of the stadium's West Lot. Cost of the tailgate is $5 per person and includes food and beverages.

 

 

The Marshall Ticket Office will conduct a football season ticket "Choose-a-Seat" event at Noon on Saturday, April 24, leading up to kickoff of the spring football game. Fans can talk with ticket office personnel, look at available seating options and purchase tickets at the stadium from Noon through kickoff of the spring game.

All season ticket requests have been completed and all current season ticket holders who made requests through the ticket office during the renewal process in regards to their season ticket orders have been contacted and have received their seat assignments. Fans that have made requests and have not been in contact with the Marshall Ticket Office are asked to contact the ticket office at 800-THE-HERD to inquire about your request by the end of the day Friday. All remaining seats that have not been purchased will be made available for sale at Saturday's Choose-A-Seat.

Season ticket customer service stations will be located at Gate A and Gate C on the west side of the stadium. Fans are encouraged to look around the stadium and inquire about the different seating options available. Ticket office staff members will have updated seating charts available at each customer service station for fans to view available seats. Open seats will not be tagged this year.

There will be no pre-game Thunder Walk for this year's spring game, however a select number of mini-football's that are autographed by Chad Pennington, John Wade, Randy Moss and Byron Leftwich will be thrown into the crowd during the spring football game.

During halftime, Pennington, Wade, Moss and Leftwich will also take part in a two-hand touch football game with children from the Boys & Girls Club of Huntington.

Immediately following the spring game, current members of the Marshall Football team will take part in a 20-minute autograph session on the field. Fans will be permitted to enter the field on the north endzone side between the 10-yardline and the Shewey Athletic Center for the autograph session. Fans seeking autographs are asked to bring their own marker or writing utensil and only one item to be autographed by the players.

Following the 20-minute session fans will be asked to return to their seats for a special on stage salute to the four new Hall of Fame members before the Gloriana concert begins. The concert will go on rain or shine and fans are reminded that umbrellas are not permitted inside the stadium. Should the forecast call for rain fans are encourage to bring ponchos or other appropriate rain gear.
