HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University's annual Green & White Spring Football Game, presented by Kroger, is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium and members of Marshall's 1999 undefeated team, along with other notable NFL alumni, will be in attendance.
Marshall's 1999 football team posted a perfect 13-0 record en route to a final national ranking of 10th in the final Associated Press Poll. The squad will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of that special season in conjunction with Saturday's game. Members of the 1999 team will be tailgating prior to the game and join the current Thundering Herd in the pre-game "Thunder Walk" at 1 p.m. Marshall football Alumni will also be passing out autographed keep sakes to fans as they make their way through the crowd in the stadium's West Lot.
The 1999 team and other former Thundering Herd players in attendance will also be recognized at halftime.
Gates for the football game will open at 1:30 p.m. All tickets for the Green & White game are $5 and general admission. Parking lots open at 10:30 a.m. and parking is available on the West Lot and West Lot Annex for $10 per space and at the 3rd Avenue parking garage for $5 per space. All proceeds go directly to the Marshall University Quarterback Club which helps support the football program. Tickets for the spring game will be sold from Gate A and by members of the MU Quarterback Club during the day of the game.
Members of the Marshall Quarterback Club will also be selling souvenir game programs that include a four-page tribute to the 1999 team for $5. Only 1,500 of these programs have been printed.
A live video stream of the game will be available to Herd All-Access subscribers through www.Herdzone.com.
In addition, Marshall's first football season ticket "Choose-A-Seat" will begin at Noon. A Marshall Ticket office customer service station will be located near ticket booth A in the west concourse with three active selling points for those who want to purchase season tickets.
Fans attending the "Choose-A-Seat" will be able to browse blocks of seats throughout the stadium that are tagged to indicate they are available and select those seats for purchase. Ticket locations will not be final until after the May 1st ticket renewal deadline. Any seat purchased during the event is subject to change pending requests from prior season ticket holders renewing their season tickets prior to the May 1 deadline. Customers will be contacted with any changes or conflicts in regards to their seat locations.
Season tickets will not officially go on sale to the general public until Friday, May 8. Tickets will be available for purchase online only on Herdzone.com at 5 p.m. on that date. Tickets will be made available for purchase over the phone and at the Cam Henderson Center Ticket Office starting Monday, May 11.
2009 Marshall Spring Game Information
Parking: Parking is available beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the Joan C. Edwards Stadium West Lot and annex for $10 per space. Parking is also available at the 3rd Avenue Parking Garage for $5 per space.
Spring Game Tickets: All tickets to the game are $5 and general admission. Gates open at 1:30 p.m. for the game. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Gate A ticket booth and from members of the Marshall University Quarterback Club located throughout the stadium's West Lot.
"Thunder Walk": The Thundering Herd football team and members of the 1999 team will take part in the traditional "Thunder Walk" starting at 1 p.m. Members of the 1999 team will be handing out autographed items to fans during the walk. The walk will begin at the M Club Pavillion, continue down the sidewalk of 20th Street (Marshall Memorial Blvd.) and then advance into the West Lot toward the Shewey Building.
"Choose-A-Seat" Event: Begins at Noon. A ticket office customer service point will be located near Gate A. Fans can enter the stadium and look at available season-ticket options. This is the first opportunity for the general public to select season tickets for the upcoming 2009 football season. Seat locations will be finalized following the season-ticket renewal deadline on May 1. Season tickets will not go on sale to the general public until May 8, 2009.
Post-Game Autographs: Following the conclusion of the spring game. Marshall football players and coaches will sign autographs for fans for approximately 30 minutes at the field level.
