2002 "Paint The Capital City Green" Sold Out
"Paint The Capital City Green," the nation's largest pep rally for Marshall University friends, fans and alumni, is a sellout for the first time in the event's history, officials from the Big Green Scholarship Foundation and Marshall University Alumni Association announced today.
"We have had an overwhelming response from alumni, fans and friends in the Kanawha Valley and throughout the region. We appreciate the support of our corporate partners and everyone who has helped to make this year's "Paint The Capital City Green" our biggest and best Marshall athletic kickoff event ever," Marshall spokesperson Tom Hunter said.
The 6 p.m. event Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Charleston Marriott, will include a pep rally featuring entertainment by "Marco" the buffalo, Marshall cheerleaders and the university pep band. A silent auction table featuring team collectibles, memorabilia and items from former Thundering Herd stars will be featured. Event proceeds benefit the Big Green Scholarship Foundation and Marshall University Alumni Association.
Marshall President Dan Angel, Director of Athletics Bob Marcum, Head Football Coach Bobby Pruett, Men's Basketball Coach Greg White and Women's Basketball Coach Royce Chadwick will be on hand to discuss the upcoming seasons for Marshall's athletic programs.
