Davis Named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week
Kick returner posted a record-breaking day
IRVING, Tx. – Marshall kick returner Keion Davis was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week Monday afternoon, following an outstanding performance in the 31-26 win over Miami (Ohio) Saturday evening in Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
Davis set a Marshall single-game record with two kickoff returns for touchdowns. He became just the 20th player in FBS history to have two kickoff returns for scores in the same game and only the second in C-USA annals. Davis had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game and added a 97-yarder late in the second quarter to give him three career kickoff returns for a score. Marshall has seven kickoff returns of 97 yards or longer in its history and Davis has accounted for three of them. His 196 kick return yards Saturday is the third-highest single-game total at Marshall and his 65.3-yard average is fourth on the school's all-time list.
The Thundering Herd (1-0) will travel to NC State (0-1) Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest that will air on ESPN3.
