Marshall-VT Game Notes
ATHENS, Ohio-The Marshall football team (1-2) hosts #11/13 Virginia Tech (3-0) for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff from Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Saturday. The game will also be carried on CBS Sports Network with Dave Ryan, Rich Rodriguez and Kaylee Hartung on the call.
Marshall suffered a 44-7 defeat at the hands of the Ohio Bobcats last week. Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato completed nine of 21 passes for 116 yards with a touchdown, but was also picked off four times in the first half. The lone scoring play came courtesy of a 45-yard strike from Cato to wideout Aaron Dobson. Safety Omar Brown had 14 tackles with a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.
The Hokes defeated Arkansas State 26-7 last Saturday. Quarterback Logan Thomas completed 21 of 33 passes for 292 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He completed passes to seven different receivers, with Danny Coale and D.J. Coles hauling in four and 49-yard touchdown tosses, respectively. Running back David Wilson toted the ball 20 times for 85 yards and added a three-yard score. Defensively, Tariq Edwards had 10 tackles, including 2.5 tackles for loss and Jayron Hosley tacked on two interceptions.
Following Saturday's game, the Herd will travel to Louisville for a 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday kickoff with the Cardinals.
