Marshall and Louisville Agree to Home and Home Football Series|
Oct. 1, 2009
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick announced Thursday that Marshall has signed a home and home football series with the University of Louisville.
"This series goes along with our scheduling philosophy and that is to schedule regional home and home games with BCS AQ conference schools," Hamrick said. "This series will be good for both schools and I am especially happy for our fans that live in the greater Cincinnati area and in central Kentucky. The close vicinity of both schools will make for easy travel for our fans and it will generate interest throughout the region."
Marshall is scheduled to play at Louisville on October 1, 2011 and the Cardinals will visit Joan C. Edwards Stadium on September 27, 2014.
The Thundering Herd and the Cardinals have a long history having met on the gridiron 27 times. Louisville leads the all-time series 16-11, however Marshall has won three consecutive games in the series. Marshall posted a 38-15 win over Louisville in the 2002 GMAC Bowl, a 48-29 win in the 1998 Motor City Bowl, and a 34-31 win at Louisville in 1987.
