Fans Encouraged to Go Green on Oct. 15|
Oct. 7, 2011
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -
When the Marshall football team faces off against Rice on Oct. 15, Thundering Herd fans will compete as well in EPA's Game Day Challenge.
The event, put on by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, will put Marshall against 75 other universities across the country. The competition will be judged by least amount of waste generated per attendee, greatest greenhouse gas reductions from diverting waste, highest recycling rate, highest organics reduction rate (i.e., food donation and composting) and highest combined recycling and composting rate.
Participate in the 2011 Game Day Challenge by purchasing aluminum cans or plastic bottles instead of glass. When your containers are empty, simply place them in the green bags distributed by volunteers throughout Joan C. Edwards Stadium. Please be sure not to put food waste in the green bags.
Help Marshall defeat Rice and save the environment in the same day. Be Marshall Green!
