Junior wideout Andre Booker led all receivers with three catches for 66 yards. Travon Van carried the ball 15 times for 54 yards and Tron Martinez had 19 rushes for 49 yards. Defensively, the Herd produced five sacks, two interceptions and made several key plays down the stretch. Senior Tyson Gale led the team with seven tackles (five solo) and one interception to earn himself Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week. Punter Kase Whitehead locked up the league's Special Teams Player of the Week honors after he dropped four of his five kicks inside the 20-yard line.
The Knights were off last week after dropping a 24-17 decision at BYU on Sept. 24. Quarterback Jeff Godfrey completed 17 of his 25 attempts for 272 yards and an interception, but he did score twice on the ground. Running back Ronnie Weaver was the leading ground-gainer with seven carries for 38 yards. A.J. Guyton was Godfrey's favorite receiving target, as he hauled in nine catches for 163 yards. Kemal Ishmael had a game-high 10 tackles, including one tackle for loss.
