Quotes from Mark Snyder's Weekly Press Conference

Oct. 31, 2006

On Saturday's game with Tulane...
Obviously we are excited to be back home here at the Joan. We have been on the road for a good bit and it is nice to stay home a couple of weeks in a row.

On Tulane...
We have a very good and much improved Tulane team coming in here. It looks like they are finding their stride on offense and defense as well. Our offensive guys to date feel like this may be the best defense (in conference) we have faced because they may be a little more athletic than SMU. Special teams wise I think they are doing some good things.

On their win over Army and playing at Marshall for the first time...
That was a good win for them last week and you can tell looking at the film that their confidence is high. Obviously, coach Scelfo having coached here can tell his team what it is like here and hopefully we won't let them down. I know a lot of southern guys don't like the cold and it looks like we are going to have some cold weather and the chance for some snow. Hopefully, we will have a great crowd and some nice cold weather.

On last week's win over Memphis...
Looking at the film a feel a little better than I did after the game. I thought we improved over our last game. Like I said before, ever since Tennessee I feel like we have shown improvement, except for maybe at SMU. But, we seem to be improving each week and making some plays when we need to and that's good to see.

On the East Division Race...
Well that's great for the fans to talk about those kinds of things, but we just have to work on getting better each week and this week we have to play a good Tulane team.

On Lester Ricard and Matt Forte...
Their quarterback (Ricard) does an outstanding job and he spreads it around. I think their offense does a great job and that their running back really does a lot of different things for them. I think they have both matured in a lot of ways and their offensive line does a good job of protecting him. He's (Forte) a good running back that can catch the ball and pass protect. They are both doing a very good job.

On the two teams since last season...
This Tulane team is very different from last season, as are we. I know last year we gave them some trouble when we went to the option in the second half and the option can do that. I think that both teams are better on both sides of the ball. We are going to have our work cut out for us.

On QB Bernard Morris...
You know we are taking it day by day and he told me yesterday that he was going to practice today. We are going to have him out there throwing, but we are not going to run him. We are going to take it easy on him through the week and hopefully have him ready to go on Saturday.
