Harvey Named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

Nov. 30, 2010

IRVING, Texas - Marshall senior linebacker Mario Harvey was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week and Marshall's Athlete of the week on Monday for his outstanding performance in Marshall's 38-23 win over Tulane.

Harvey recorded a career-high 21 tackles, produced two sacks for -12 yards, recorded three tackles for a loss of 14 total yards, forced a fumble, and recorded 5 pass breakups to lead a stellar Marshall defensive effort in a 38-23 win over Tulane on Saturday.

Harvey was credited with 9 solo stops and 12 assists on a Marshall defense that limited Tulane to only 40 rushing yards for the game. Harvey became only the 8th Marshall player ever to reach the 400-career tackle mark with his first stop of the game and he ended his collegiate career with 420 total tackles, tying him with Donahue Stephenson (1990-93) for fifth all-time in Marshall History.
