Marshall Men's Golf Tied For 10th Place After First Day of Orange County Xavier Invitational|

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Thundering Herd men's golf team ended the first day of competition at the Orange County Xavier Invitational at the Crooked Cat Course in a tie for 10th place with Texas-San Antonio with a team score of 590 (295-295). Sophomore Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.) led Marshall with a 146 (75-71), which was good for a tie for 28th place.
Lamar University leads the tournament with a team total of 550 (271-279), and has the individual leader in Justin Harding, who carded a 136 (68-68).
Besides Tipper's 146, other Marshall scorers were Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) and Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.), who carded a 147 (T-30), Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.) who fired a 153, (T-62), and Matt Scytkowski (South Hadley, Mass.), who shot a 154 (T-70).
The final round concludes Sunday with the final 18 holes.
