Herd Saves Best for Last at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C.-The Marshall men's golf team shot a 291 Tuesday, 30 shots better than its Monday score, on the final day of competition at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
The Herd finished at 927 for the tournament, good enough for 13th place in the team competition.
Brian Anania had Marshall's best score of the day as he carded a 1-under 70 after birdies on the par-5 sixth hole, the par-3 16th and the par-4 17th. Those came on the heels of an eagle on the par-5 15th. He finished the tournament at 20-over (232) and in a tie for 42nd place.
Nathan Kerns shot a 1-over 72 Tuesday to finish in a tie for ninth place at 10-over with a total of 222. He improved on his Monday round of 82 by birdieing the par-3 third, the par-4 fourth and the 15th.
Josh Holmes shot his best round of the tournament with a 73 Tuesday with birdies on the par-5 second, the sixth and the par-4 11th. He was 28-over for the three days, finishing with a total of 240 and in a tie for 74th. His teammate, Jeremy Rogers, also finished there after Tuesday's round of 77. He birdied the second, sixth and 15th holes as well.
Logan Lagodich shot a 76 to finish a shot ahead of that duo with a 27-over total of 239. He birdied the sixth, the par-4 ninth, the 11th and the 15th.
The Herd will play at the Furman Intercollegiate beginning next Friday.
