BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Marshall men's golf team has finished Day One of the 13th annual John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio on Monday. The Thundering Herd finished tied for first after 36-holes at Stone Ridge Golf Club.

"I'm very happy that we bounced back from last week to play good the first day," coach Matt Grobe said. "It feels nice to be in a position where we have a chance to win a golf tournament."

The five members of the Marshall squad combined for a 1-over-par 577 score, after a 1-over 289 Round One and even 288 Round Two. Valparaiso is also in the hunt for the title, tied for first with the Herd.

Logan Lagodich (Canton, Ohio) had an outstanding day. In the first round, he shot 2-under-par 70 and improved as the day went on. In his second set of 18 holes, he recorded a 3-under 69 to total his Day One score to a 5-under 139 - good enough to put him ahead of the pack and sit in first place heading into the final round on Tuesday.

"Logan (Lagodich) played great today. He was very consistent all day and putted great," Grobe added.

West Virginia native Brian Anania (Hurricane) had a solid day, shooting 1-under 71 in Round One and 1-over 73 in Round Two to give him a top 10 finish with an even collective score to put him in ninth among Division I participants. Junior Jake Miller (Pataskala, Ohio) ended the day in 12th with a 3-over 147 combined score.

"I hope we can come out tomorrow and start strong and see if we can't give it a run on the back nine," Grobe concluded.

The first Marshall player will tee off at 9:21 a.m. The pairings will depend upon first and second round finishes.

The John Piper Intercollegiate has participants in multiple NCAA divisions, for this reason tournament results have been separated into appropriate divisions of competition.

The Herd had six participants in the tournament - one was entered as an individual. After Day One they stand:
