Men's Golf Wraps Up Day One of Cardinal Intercollegiate
Marshall sits in 12th after the first 36 holes

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – Day one of the Cardinal Intercollegiate is in the books and Marshall’s men’s golf team finds itself in 12th out of 15 teams.
The tournament is being played at the par-72 Cardinal Club in Simpsonville, Ky. Louisville is the host.
The Thundering Herd posted scores of 300 and 298 in the first two rounds for a total score of 598 (+22).
Nathan Kerns led the Marshall attack on Monday. The Ironton, Ohio native had a total score of 146 (+2) after the first 36 holes. Following a first round of 75, Kerns carded the best round of the day for the Herd with a 1-under 71 to finish the day in a tie for 25th.
Jeremy Rogers was next for the Herd. He posted scores of 73 and 75 for a total of 148 (+4) to finish Monday in a tie of 38th.
The remainder of Marshall’s team performance came from Brian Anania, Logan Lagodich and Tas Sipowski. Anania had first and second round scores of 76 and 75 for day one total of 151. Lagodich, who made his first career appearance for MU, concluded the day with a 155 (78-77). Sipowski posted scores of 76 and 83 for total of 159.
Bowling Green currently sits in first place after 8-under 568 on Monday. They are two strokes in front of hosts Cardinals. Wes Gates of the first place Falcons leads the pack individual with a 7-under 137.
The third and final round will begin with scheduled tee times off holes one and 10 at 8 a.m. Fans can follow the tournament with live scoring via HerdZone.com.
