Day One Results
CORDOVA, Tenn. – The Marshall men’s golf team is just 12 shots back of the lead after the first two rounds of the Memphis Intercollegiate. Round three will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Marshall’s five players will all tee off between 8 a.m. and 8:36 a.m.
The Thundering Herd currently rank in eighth place. Junior Alex Weiss is in seventh place and leads the Herd. Weiss improved by two shots from the first to the second round. Senior Clark Robinson shot an even par (72) in the second round that was a seven stroke improvement.
The golfers were dealing with cooler temperatures and 20-30 mph winds coming through following a line of storms from a cold front.
Central Arkansas leads the team competition at plus-24. Alvaro Carol Estrems of Central Arkansas leads the player leaderboard at 1-under.
Head Coach Matt Grobe:
“This was such a brutally tough day. Colonial Country Club is already a tough golf course and then you add 25-20 mph winds and it gets to be incredibly challenging. Alex played great golf today and it was nice to see him bounce back from last week’s tournament.”
