Play Suspended in Second Round at Hummingbird

SAPPHIRE, N.C. – Play was suspended due to darkness in the second round of the Hummingbird Intercollegiate. The Marshall men’s golf team is one of seven teams that did not finish. The teams that did not complete round two will hit the links Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Round three is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
 
The start of the day was delayed due to frost in the morning that helped to push everything back.
 
The Thundering Herd was tied for fourth overall at the end of the first round. Gardner-Webb holds the official lead with a combined 9-under 275 in round one.
 
Senior Alex Weiss was tied for the lead after the first round after shooting a 5-under par 66. The score was tied for the fourth-best, single-round by an individual in tournament history. Weiss recorded five birdies and was par on the other 13 holes.
