Day One: Bearcat Invitational
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's golf team finished in third place Monday at the Bearcat Invitational in Hebron, Ky. In Round 1, the Thundering Herd shot a 1-under-par 287 at Traditions Golf Club.
"I'm very happy with our first round," coach Matt Grobe said. "We played very consistent. We had a lot of putts for birdies to fall in the morning."
The entire Marshall squad finished in the top 20 after the first 18 holes of action. Senior Jeremy Rogers (Buckhannon, W.Va.) was at the forefront of the team with a 2-under 70. The senior had not competed as a part of the five-member team, since the Joe Faeganes Marshall Invite.
On the 7,100-yard course, two members of the squad shot an even 72 to finish in a tie for 9th - senior Brian Anania (Hurricane, W.Va.) and Logan Lagodich (Canton, Ohio).
The two freshmen on the team, Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) and Will Evans (Charleston, W.Va.), shot a 1-over 73 to end Round 1 in a tie for 18th.
Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay State currently hold first and second place in the Bearcat Invitational, with respective scores of 4-under 284 and 3-under 285.
