HERBON, Ky. – Marshall’s men’s golf finished strong in the final two rounds and walked away with a third place finish in the Bearcat Invitational at the par-72 Traditions Golf Club in Herbon, Ky.

As a team, the Thundering Herd compiled a score of 878 (+14) and was 11 strokes off the leader and team champion, Austin Peay, their second straight Bearcat title.

Marshall climbed three spots, from sixth to third, after Monday's first round action.

Two of Marshall’s golfers, Nathan Kerns and Brian Anania, finished in the top 12.

Kerns, the Herd’s top golfer this fall, finished tied for third and one stroke from making a playoff to determine the individual champion. The senior had the lowest round of all the golfers in the second round with a three-under-par 69. He shot a one-under-par 71 in the third and final round to conclude play with a two-under-par 214. This is his third top three finish in four tournaments this year.

Anania carded Marshall’s best third round score with a two-under-par 70 to finished tied for 12th, his best finish of the fall. The junior shot a second round of three-over-par 75 and wrapped up play with a two-over-par 218.

Jeremy Rogers was able to rebound from a shaky first round and put together rounds of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1) to close out the tournament with a 224 (+8) and a tie for 26th.

Rounding out the Herd’s effort was Logan Lagodich, who ended play with a 230 and Josh Holmes, who carded a 233.

The individual champion was Northern Kentucky’s Corey Richmond, who beat out ASU’s Anthony Bradley on the first playoff hole with a birdie.
