HILTON HEAD, S.C.- The Marshall University men’s golf team will begin its spring season this weekend when it travels to Hilton Head, S.C., to compete in the Wexford Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by Francis Marion University at the Wexford Plantation Golf Club.

Head Coach Joe Feaganes – entering the latter half of his final season with the Thundering Herd – will lead the team to South Carolina in hopes of achieving a positive result in the squad’s first tournament of the spring. Senior Co-Captain Bosten Miller headlines a cast of travelling Herd golfers that includes returners Nathan Kerns, Brian Anania, and Tas Sipowski, as well as freshman Jake Miller.

The action will begin for Marshall as early as Saturday, when the Herd battles DePaul, Ohio, and Dayton in a 1:00 p.m. quadrangular match at the Chechessee Creek Golf Club. Following a practice round at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday back at Wexford, the team will start the 36-hole, opening two rounds of the tournament at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning. The final, 18-hole round will then be played on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

The Wexford Plantation, a par 72 course that is 6913 yards in length, will be the site of the 54-hole event. Marshall is one of 16 competing teams at the Wexford Intercollegiate, as Davidson, DePaul, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Georgia State, Hartford, Louisville, Ohio, Presbyterian, Richmond, Samford, USC-Aiken, Western Carolina, and William & Mary comprise the rest of the field.
