Men's Golf Set to Compete at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men’s golf will have the opportunity to play at the site of the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open when it travels to Pinehurst, N.C., Sunday, for the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Freshman Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) posted a Top-10 score as the Thundering Herd men’s golf team concluded play at the Davidson Invitational at River Run Country Club, March 4, recording a seventh-place finish. Despite falling from sixth to seventh, Marshall showed improvement, as three of five golfers had lower scores on the second day. As a team, the Herd improved by two strokes in the final round, posting a 24-over-par 312. Overall, Marshall shot a 50-over 626, 39 strokes behind winner No. 48 Tennessee, which put up an 11-over 587. Robinson finished in a tie for seventh place, improving his Day 1 score of 4-over 76 to 1-over 73 for a total of 5-over 149.
The 36-hole competition will be held at Pinehurst No. 8, as well as the Famed Pinehurst No. 2 (Site of the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open). Championship rounds one and three will be on No. 8 while No. 2 will play host to the second round. The Herd is set to tee off in the first round at 8:45 a.m., Sunday.

Marshall is one of 10 teams competing at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, including: Belmont, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Loyola University-Maryland, Ohio, Old Dominion, Richmond, No. 50 UNCG (GolfStat.com) and Wisconsin Lutheran.
Competing for the Herd will be the team of Brian Anania (Hurricane, W.Va.), Logan Lagodich (Canton, Ohio), Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.), Will Evans (Charleston, W.Va.) and Tas Sipowski (Jupiter, Fla.). Jeremy Rogers (Buckhannon, W.Va.) will play as an individual competitor.
