Men’s Golf to Tee Off for Spring Season
The Thundering Herd will begin the second half of the 2017-18 season at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate
PINEHURST, N.C. –
The Pinehurst Intercollegiate is an annual invitational championship of Division I collegiate teams. Pinehurst Intercollegiate is a 20-year tradition at Pinehurst; each year since the re-birth of this event, the field and overall experience of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate has continued to improve, and continue to improve for years to come. The course is a Par 71, 6,937-yard course at the Pinehurst No. 8.
The Marshall men’s golf team finished up its fall 2017 schedule at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate. The Thundering Herd came in 12th place. Senior Alex Weiss was the top finisher for Marshall, tied for 24th. Weiss battled back to shoot a 2-under 69 in the third round which included an eagle on the 12th hole. Redshirt sophomore Ben Roeder followed next, tied for 35th. Roeder scored an eagle on the 18th hole and finished the day with an even par 71. Redshirt junior Thomas Frazier improved by three strokes in the final round.
