Men's Golf Team Concludes Day Two of Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - The Marshall University men's golf team completed the second round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Monday in 18th place after entering the clubhouse with a two-day total of 635 (315-320) at Pinehurst No. 8.

Marshall added five strokes to its score from Sunday's first round. Sophomore Christian Brand paces the Thundering Herd in a tie for 33rd place after shaving one stroke from yesterday's round, carding a 4-over 76. Brand (153) is in a tie with seven other players.

Senior Trent Schambach (155) also shaved a stroke from Sunday. He followed his opening-round 78 with a 77 in the second round. After a 5-over 77 on Sunday, Nathan Kinker carded an 81 on Monday.

Co-host Indiana leads the team standings with a 578 (286-292). Eastern Kentucky (602) and VCU (603) are in second and third place, respectively.

Three of the top four golfers heading into Tuesday's final round hail from Bloomington, Ind., with the Hoosiers' Seth Brandon leading the field with a 144 (69-75).

The final round of the 54-hole event begins tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
