DELRAY BEACH, Fla.- Coming off its best performance of the spring 2012 season, the Marshall University men’s golf team will travel to the Fountains Country Club for the FAU Spring Break Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic University from March 23-25.
The par-71, 7031-yard course will host a field of 17 teams during its three, 18-hole rounds on Friday through Sunday, and will provide the Thundering Herd with an opportunity to improve upon the 11th place score it posted at the Furman Intercollegiate just one week ago.
Bosten Miller, Brian Anania, Nathan Kerns, Jeremy Rogers, and Tas Sipowski will return to the lineup in that order for the Herd, with senior co-captain Carson Schambach on-hand to compete as an individual. So far this season Miller has led the team in each of the three previous tournaments, but has yet to finish in the top-10 at any event this spring.
Miller and his teammates will be looking for improved scores this time around, but must go up against a host of teams that includes FAU, Northwestern, Ohio State, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Florida State, South Florida, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Northern Illinois, UCONN, DePaul, Murray State, Miami (Ohio), and Xavier.
Marshall will participate in a practice round on Thursday before teeing-off in the opening round of 18-holes on Friday at 9:15 a.m. The remaining two, 18-hole rounds will be played on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The Herd finished tied for eighth at the FAU Spring Break Classic last season.
