COLUMBUS, Ohio- After 40 seasons at the helm, Marshall University men’s golf coach Joe Feaganes will embark on his final regular season journey with the team as the Thundering Herd travels to Ohio State University for the 2012 Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Tournament.
Hosted by the Buckeyes on their prestigious Scarlet Course, the par-71, 7,455-yard links will welcome a field of 15 teams to a tournament that has been taking place since 1969. Ball State, Bowling Green, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Kent State, Northwestern, Ohio, Ohio State, SMU, Toledo, Western Kentucky, Wright State, and Xavier will all join the Herd at the 54-hole tournament, which is set to take place from Saturday to Sunday in Columbus.
Brian Anania, Bosten Miller, Nathan Kerns, Jeremy Rogers, and Tas Sipowski will represent Marshall at the tournament, which will officially begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday. After the 36 holes of the first two rounds have been completed, play will resume on Sunday morning with the final round of 18 at 8:30 a.m. The Herd will play a practice round on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
Marshall has never won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, a tournament that has been dominated by a Buckeyes team that has won 23 of the 42 events. Indiana, Northwestern, and Kent State have the second most wins with four apiece.
The Thundering Herd is 53-79-3 this season, and although a win at the Kepler Intercollegiate would not guarantee a winning record for the year, it would go a long way in building some momentum as the Conference USA Championships near.
