HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Junior Brian Anania was one of six named to the Conference USA Men's Golf All-Academic Team on Thursday.

A Hurricane native, Anania is the epitome of a student-athlete. Along with having the second-best stroke average on the team (74.9) in 23 rounds of play this season, Anania maintains a 3.92 GPA while pursuing a degree in business management. His GPA was the best of any student-athlete on the ballot.

"We are so proud of Brian," said head coach Matt Grobe. "He has worked so hard on the course and in the classroom. This award is reflective of his hard work."

He finished in the top 15 in two tournaments this season including a tie for sixth at the Davidson Invitational. Anania scored a round-low of 70 in two different tournaments this season and helped the Herd to three top-three team finishes.

This award adds to an impressive list for Anania who has been named to the Dean's List in all five of his collegiate semesters. This season he was awarded the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for the second time and was named to the C-USA Honor Roll for the third time.
