HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men’s golf looks up to wrap up the 2012-13 golf season with the Conference USA golf championships, starting with a 9 p.m. ET tee time on Sunday. The three-round tournament will be played over three days, ending on Tuesday. The winner of the championship will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Regionals.
The 54-hole event will be played on the par 72, 6,935-yard course located at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark. This is the fifth time in seven years the tournament has been hosted by the club.
Marshall will be joining Southern Miss and UCF on Sunday morning with a 9 p.m. ET tee time on the No. 10 hole. UCF has won three of the last four C-USA titles and will be led by defending 2012 medalist Greg Eason.
The Thundering Herd are traveling five golfers including senior Nathan Kerns, junior Jeremy Rogers, sophomore Tas Sipowski, freshman Logan Lagodich, and recent C-USA All-Academic honoree, Brian Anania.
“It’s a really good golf course here in Texarkana (Ark.),” head coach Matt Grobe said. “Good news for us is we have four of our five guys already play here this year, so they have a familiarity. We are really happy after Irish Creek – we were able to get a couple of good weeks of work in and prepare for this tournament. The kids look like they are ready to go and hopefully we come out and put a good round in tomorrow.”
Following Sunday's opening round at Texarkana Country Club, the championship will resume with 18 holes played Monday at 8 a.m. CDT and the final round will start at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
