Plaziak Signs with Herd Golf for 2017-18 Season

June 12, 2017

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Fifth-year Marshall men’s golf head coach Matt Grobe announced the signing of Brad Plaziak (Atlanta) on Monday.

“We are so excited to have Brad join our team,” Grobe said. “He has had a very distinguished junior career and should make an easy transition to collegiate golf. We lost 3 seniors from last year’s team, so we will need Brad to come in and help provide depth immediately. Brad is a wonderful kid and will be a great addition to the Marshall Family. I can’t wait to get him on campus and watch him compete during his collegiate career.”

Plaziak joins the Herd as the No. 21 ranked golfer in the state of Georgia and No. 14 in Georgia for the class of 2017, according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. The Atlanta native was a four-year member of Cambridge High School’s varsity team, where he earned a third place finish at the 2016 Sectional 5A Tournament, was a member of the 2016 All-State 5A Golf Team, selected to the All-Tournament teams of the Georgia/South Carolina Cup Tournament and Billy Peek Invitational Tournament, a team championship win in the 2017 Regional High School Tournament, where he was the runner-up individually, a top-15 finish at the 6A State Championship and was a member of the 2017 All-State 6A Golf Team.

State-wise, Plaziak finished at ninth at the Georgia PGA Junior Tournament, was a member of the Hurricane Junior Tour and the Southeast Junior Tour and was named the Atlanta Junior Fall 2012 Player of the Year.

The newcomer also boasts a top-15 finish at the 2017 Callaway AJGA Junior Classic, top half finishes at the 2017 Junior Jones Cup Invitational and 2017 Junior Heritage Invitational, earning a spot at the 2016 Junior Amateur Qualifier playoff, an eighth place finish at the 2016 Innisbrook Christmas Classic, a finish at sixth at the 2016 Joe Cheves Invitational Tournament and a top-20 finish at the 2016 Toyota Music City AJGA.

Plaziak joins the Herd with a 3.70 GPA and was a four-year scholar athlete at Cambridge High School.

The Atlanta native is immediately eligible to play in the upcoming 2017-18 season.
