Weiss Earns Runner-Up Honors at Ohio Amateur

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Marshall men’s golf rising senior Alex Weiss (Pickerington, Ohio) finished as the runner-up in the Ohio Amateur at the Springfield Country Club on Friday afternoon.

After beginning the day with a 2-over-par 212, Weiss shot a two-under 68 in the final round to finish with an even-for-par 280 through four rounds to tie with Delaware, Ohio’s Grant Godfrey. Centerville’s Austin Sipe won the tournament with a 4-under 276.

The honor tops an impressive year for the Pickerington, Ohio native, as he was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, finished the season with the team’s second-best stroke average of 73.49 and he was the Herd’s top finisher in three tournaments.
