2012-13 Men's Golf Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – New men’s golf head coach Matt Grobe announced his 2012-13 schedule Thursday as he and his squad will begin a new chapter in Marshall golf.
Grobe enters his season at the helm of the Thundering Herd men as the former head coach for 40 years, Joe Feaganes retired following the 2011-12 season.
The first competition in the Herd’s new era begins September 10 with the 43rd annual Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington. 15 squads will join the Herd, including defending invitational champions Ohio State. Other participants include Cincinnati, Ohio, Xavier and 2011 NCAA Championship participants Virginia Tech.
Marshall remaining fall schedule includes a return to the Cardinal Intercollegiate hosted by Louisville (Sept. 24-25), the Miromar Lakes Intercollegiate in Fort Meyers, Fla. (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), Cincinnati’s Bearcat Invitational (Oct. 8-9) and the OBX/ODU Collegiate at Kilmaric Golf Club in Powells Point, N.C. October 21-23.
The spring schedule for the Herd kicks off March 4 at River Run Country Club in North Carolina for the Davidson College Invitational. The remaining three scheduled tournaments in the spring are all return trips from last year. A return to legendary Pinehurst Golf Club March 10-12 for the Pinehurst Intercollegiate is on tap, as is the Furman Intercollegiate (March 22-24) and the FAU Spring Break Classic in Delray Beach, Fla. March 29-31.
The Conference USA Championship returns to Texarkana, Ark. and the Texarkana Country Club April 21-23.
Marshall plans to add one more tournament to its spring schedule later in the year.
Grobe will welcome back senior golfer Nathan Kerns, who won the Ohio Amateur Title over the summer. Other returners include Brian Anania who qualified for the U.S. Amateur after capturing a 12-hole playoff at Williams Country Club in Weirton and Jeremy Rogers, a third place finisher at the West Virginia Amateur.
