Men's Golf to Compete in Bearcat Invitational|

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall’s men’s golf team will take part in its fourth event of the fall when it heads to Hebron, Ky. for the 2012 Bearcat Invitational starting on Monday.
Cincinnati hosts the tournament, which will be played at Traditions Golf Club, a par-72, 7,100-yard course in northern Kentucky. Thirty-six holes will be played Monday, with the final 18-hole round Tuesday.
Coach Matt Grobe’s squad has been led by senior Nathan Kerns. The Ironton, Ohio native has two second-place finishes which have earned him two Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors in the process. Kerns most recently was second at the Cobra-PUMA Invitational. He leads the team in stroke average and fewest strokes.
This will be the fourth straight appearance for the Thundering Herd in the Bearcat Invite. MU finished 10th last year. Brian Anania was the top performer in the 2011 event, finishing 17th after a two-round of score of 146, including a first round of 2-under-par 70.
The 2012 field will include 13 teams, with the host Bearcats entering two squads. The rest of the competition facing Marshall will include Austin Peay, Belmont, Cleveland State, Dayton, Detroit, Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Morehead State, Northern Kentucky, Oakland, Wright State, and Youngstown State.
