HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The near two-week tournament rest period for the Marshall men’s golf team is over. The Thundering Herd is headed to Powells Point, N.C. for its last fall tournament.

This will be the Herd’s second consecutive year competing in the fourth annual tournament. Three rounds of action will be played over a period of three days, Oct. 20-22. With 18 holes each day, Sunday and Monday will begin at 8:30 a.m., while Tuesday’s tee time is scheduled to start at 8 a.m.

Live stats will not be available, but final stats will be provided at the end of each day of competition on HerdZone.com.

HAVE YOU HERD?
The Marshall men's golf team last competed in the Bearcat Invitational, where it finished second overall with a 3-over-par 867 – just five strokes shy of first. It was Marshall’s third-consecutive week placing in the top 2.

The Herd had three top 10 finishes, one of which came from tournament champion senior Brian Anania (Hurricane), who went on to win Conference USA Golfer of the Week recognition for his performance. The tournament win was a first for the West Virginia native, who was able to take the victory with his parents watching.

SUMMING UP THE FALL
With back-to-back tournament victories, back-to-back individual victors and back-to-back C-USA Golfers of the Week, it can be argued that the 2013 fall season has been Marshall’s most successful yet.

After a seventh place finish in the Joe Faeganes Marshall Invite Sept. 9-10, The Herd has yet to finish lower than the top 2. In the John Piper Intercollegiate and Patriot Intercollegiate, the Marshall squad ended the first and final day of both tournaments in first place.

Its first individual champion and first C-USA honoree came from freshman Clark Robinson (South Windsor, Conn.) in the Patriot Intercollegiate Sept. 28-29. Robinson came into the final day tied at 10th and shot a 66, matching the second lowest score in the Herd’s history to end with a 210 final tally.

Marshall’s second-place finish at the Bearcat Invitational, shined a light on Anania – the Herd’s second individual victor and C-USA honoree of the season. His 210 final score pushed him to the top of the leaderboard after a career-tying low round of 68.

SURVEYING THE COURSE
