The Marshall men's soccer team opened its 2012 season on Friday night with a 2-0 win over Wright State.
Prior to his arrival here at Marshall, Fatovic helped assist his former high school George Mason during the 2011 season. In his one season on staff, Fatovic helped the team back to the Virginia A state championship for the third straight year. In his first two seasons on staff with the Herd, Fatovic helped former standout goalkeeper Daniel Withrow to two C-USA First Team awards and Conference Player of the year in 2012. Withrow went on to lead all NCAA Division One schools in save percentage in 2012 and was drafted 66th overall by the Columbus Crew in the MLS Draft in January 2013. In 2014, Herd goalkeepers Bijan Gloston and Dominic Reining both individually took home Conference USA goalkeeper of the week awards. In 2015, Herd Goalkeeper Dominic Reining again won the programs second statistical champion in save percentage.
As a player, Fatovic won two Virginia High School State Championships in 2002 and 2004 and the 2002 Virginia Snickers State Cup. During the 2004 season, Fatovic earned Virginia State Player of the Year honors. Fatovic went on to play at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. A three year starter in goal for the Blackbirds, Fatovic graduated with honors in 2008. His playing career didn't stop there, as he helped the Aegean Hawks (DC) of the USASA to two US Open Cup appearances and the USASA National Championship in 2009.
Fatovic, in addition to his role as the goalkeeper coach, assists in all aspects of administration for the men's program including recruiting, video analysis, team travel, day to day operations, camps and clinics administration, and fundraising. Fatovic currently holds a USSF B License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, USSF National Youth License and is the Director of Coaching for the local West Virginia Futbol Club.
