The Marshall men's soccer team opened its 2012 season on Friday night with a 2-0 win over Wright State.
Alex Fatovic arrived at Marshall University for the start of the 2011 season following a successful stint as coach of George Mason High School in Falls Church, Virginia. As a coach, Fatovic helped lead George Mason to back-to-back Virginia state titles and brought the the team its fifth title in the program's history. In his first season with Marshall, Fatovic served primarily as the goalkeeper coach, helping train goalkeeper Daniel Withrow to a First-Team All-C-USA season.
As a player, Fatovic attended George Mason High himself, and won two titles as the starting keeper. In 2004, Fatovic earned Virginia State Player of the Year honors, and went on to attend Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. A three year starter in goal, Fatovic graduated with honors in 2008. The Falls Church, Va., native then went on to play three seasons in the United Soccer League (USL).
