GREENSBORO, N.C. – After tying UNC Greensboro in the opening match of the UNCG Kickoff Classic, the Marshall men’s soccer team dropped the finale 2-0 to the Phoenix of Elon Sunday afternoon.
Elon netted both of their goals in the first half, one from Brad Franks in the 24th minute and one from Steven Kinney in the 44th minute. The Phoenix outshot Marshall 16-6 on the afternoon.
“They are a great team,” said Thomas Olivier, Marshall’s assistant coach. “They’re a very talented team all-around.”
Marshall falls to 1-3-1 on the year. They have their home opener Tuesday, Sept. 15th, when they host Ohio Valley University at 7 p.m. at Sam Hood Field.
