Head Coach Chris Grassie
“In the previous three matches, we thought we played well enough and deserved to win. Tonight, however, we were totally outplayed. FIU did a great a job and played very well. We didn’t have the intensity required to compete, and we paid the price. Soccer is a ‘weak link’ sport, meaning that it’s not so much about one or two star players, but about your collective level. You get exploited where you are weak. Tonight we had too many breakdowns, and got punished for them. I can’t point the finger at any one player. As a group, we let ourselves down. All of us. We’ve gone 0-3-1 in the last four matches, but we all feel that record doesn’t reflect our ability. We’re at the point that we have to start getting the results and putting in the complete performances that change that record. We need to do better.”
Marshall returns to the field on Saturday, Oct. 14, at Hoops Family Field for a match with No. 20 Kentucky. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
