RIO GRANDE, Ohio- The Marshall University men's soccer team will take one step closer to the start of its 2012 regular season campaign when it travels to the University of Rio Grande on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. preseason showdown with the Red Storm.

Rio Grande, a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), made it all the way to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament last season en route to posting a solid 19-3 record for the year. Led by senior, All-American midfielder Richard Isberner, the Red Storm squad should give the Thundering Herd a solid test prior to the start of the regular season.

The Wednesday match will be the first of two preseason contests for the Herd, who is also slated to take on Pittsburgh in Charleston, W.Va., at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday. Last season, Marshall went 0-2 in the preseason before posting an 8-8-1 record in regular season play.
