@HerdMSoccer to Begin Exhibition Play vs. Rio Grande Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall men’s soccer team will begin its exhibition play Tuesday night against Rio Grande University. The game will kick off at 8 p.m. at Hoops Family Field.
 
In 2015, the Herd finished 8-9-2 and advanced to the Conference USA Championship game for the first time since 2009. Marshall lost to FIU 1-0 in the title match.
 
Senior Daniel Jodah (Mississauga, Ontario) was the second leading scorer this past season with 10 points. Other leading returners include seniors Trevor Starcher (Hurricane, W.Va.), Tommy Trupo (Scott Depot, W.Va.), junior Christian Kershaw (Severna Park, Md.) and sophomore Chris Taibi (Wantagh, N.Y.).
 
Marshall welcomes 13 newcomers to the squad for the 2016 season.
 
Rio Grande finished 23-1 in 2015 on its way to the NAIA National Championship. Junior Willian Paulino was named NAIA National Player of the Year and the KIAC Male Athlete of the Year for the Red Storm.
 
Marshall will conclude its exhibition games with a match against Radford Saturday, Aug. 20 at Hoops Family Field. Kickoff for that contest will be at 4 p.m.
