HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University men’s soccer team plays its final exhibition match Wednesday night at Sam Hood Field as the Thundering Herd hosts the University of Charleston at 7 p.m.

MU began its 2010 campaign with a 2-1 exhibition victory against Gardner-Webb which was played at a neutral site in Bluefield, W.Va.

The Herd trailed 1-0 in the second half, but then received a goal from freshman Ryan Kelly in the 72nd minute and the game-winner from Fayanga Keita in the 83rd minute.

MU used 21 players against GWU. “You play these games to find out about your players,” head coach Bob Gray said. “Today we learned that we have some depth on this team.”

The Herd handed Charleston one of its four regular season losses last year on a rainy night in Huntington as MU escaped the Golden Eagles with a 1-0 triumph. Charleston finished 2009 at 19-4.

The Wednesday night friendly between the I-64 rivals will consist of three sessions of 45, 30 and 30 minutes, respectively. GameTracker will be available for the match by logging on to www.herdzone.com.

Admission into the match is free of charge.
