Sept. 21, 2009
Redshirt freshman men’s soccer player Daniel Withrow (Rochester Hills, Mich.) was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 21 and is this week's Marshall Student-Athlete of the Week. Withrow posted 147 minutes of shutout goaltending during the week.
Withrow started off the week by making one save in 45 minutes of action against Ohio Valley University, a match in which the Herd won 3-0. On Sept. 20, Withrow kept a blank sheet for 102 minutes to help MU defeat No. 22 Kentucky 1-0 in Lexington.
The 6-foot-2 keeper helped Marshall snap the longest unbeaten streak in the country which UK owned, a streak that dated back to October of 2008 and lasted 15 games.
