Marshall Topples Memphis in 3 Goal Thriller
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer team completed its road to recovery on Saturday night at Sam Hood Field, erasing all memories of an 0-4 start to the season with a 3-0 victory over the Memphis Tigers to move to a 5-4 record on the year.
The match will be Marshall’s first in ten days since the Herd defeated Radford 1-0 in overtime two weekends ago, and will be both teams’ first C-USA game of the 2012 season. Last year, a Tom Jackson hattrick doomed the Tigers to a 3-0 loss at Sam Hood Field. Marshall holds the all-time series record, 5-2 over Memphis.
Wednesday’s showdown will be the first of two consecutive C-USA matches for the Herd this week as the team remains on the road to play Tulsa on Saturday. Live stats and video for Wednesday’s game against Memphis may be found by clicking the links below.
