HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In match number five of a six-match home stand, the Marshall men’s soccer team (2-4-2) will take on Bowling Green (1-4-2) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 on Hoops Family Field at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Looking to erase a one-goal deficit after surrendering a first-half score, Marshall did just that to record a 1-1 tie with Northern Kentucky in double-overtime at home on Sunday, Sept. 22. A cross from junior Jahvon Allison (Kingston, Jamaica) was headed home by sophomore Nick Edginton (Wellington, New Zealand) in the 78th minute to tie the game at one goal apiece.
Marshall finished the match with more corner kicks (8-2), shots (10-6) and shots on goal (4-2) than NKU.
“This team is young so they have to learn how to win games and right now we have to find a way to score some goals because you can’t win games without scoring goals, but we are going to get better,” Marshall coach Bob Gray said after Sunday’s tie.
STREAKING AT ‘THE VET’
With four matches complete in a six-match Marshall home stretch at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex, the Herd has recorded at least one point in each of its last three matches. Most recently, Marshall collected one point with a 1-1 tie (Sept. 22) and before that defeated IPFW (Sept. 15) and VMI (Sept. 17) to collect three points in each of those contests.
After having been shutout in its first two matches of the season, Marshall has scored at least one goal in each of its last six matches dating back to a road match vs. Wright State (Sept. 6). In two of those matches, the Thundering Herd scored two goals (Wright State on Sept. 6 and VMI on Sept. 17).
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green currently finds itself in the midst of a scoring drought as the Falcons have failed to score a goal in its last five contests for a total goal drought time of 487:07. The Falcons last scored vs. No. 15 Michigan (Sept. 2) in the 81st minute. In the 2013 Mid-American Conference Preseason Poll, Bowling Green was selected to finish fourth in the league of seven teams.
The Herd and Falcons will play the 14th contest in the series history with Bowling Green entering Friday with a 7-4-2 lead in the all-time series. The two sides last faced off in 2012 in Bowling Green, Ohio with the game having ended in a scoreless draw.
Marshall will open its Conference USA slate at home on Monday, Sept. 30 with new C-USA member and No. 25 New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. The contest will close out the Herd’s six-match home stand.
