Men's Soccer Loses Third Straight, Falls to VMI 1-0

    Lexington, Va.-The Marshall University men’s soccer team dropped its third straight game as they fell to the Virginia Military Institute 1-0 in action Tuesday.

    “We had all kinds of chances,” head coach Bob Gray said. “For some reason, we are just not getting the job done right now.”

    Ross Davis scored the only goal of the match in the 78th minute off a feed from Jonathan Rios.

    Goalkeeper John Simmons was outstanding in the victory for the Keydets, recording 12 saves and his fourth shutout of the season.

    Despite the loss, Marshall outshot VMI, 25-7.

    The loss drops Marshall’s record to 9-6-0 as VMI moves to 5-7-1.

    Marshall will return to action on Sunday for their annual game against the Marshall Alumni on Sunday, October 27, at noon.
