Byron Carmichael Selected to Play in adidas MLS Soccer Combine
Huntington, W.Va.-Marshall University menís soccer forward Byron Carmichael has been selected to participate in the 2003 adidas MLS Player Combine in Fort Lauderdale, FL, from January 12th to January 14th, 2003. Carmichael was one of only 40 players selected to attend the event, which leads up to the MLS Draft on January 17th, 2003, in Kansas City, MO.
Carmichael recently finished his career as Marshallís career leader in points (127) and goals scored (58). Both marks are career Mid-American Conference records as well.
The field of players was determined by a select panel of Division I college coaches in conjunction with representatives of MLS coaches. The select group will splint into three teams and participate in a round-robin tournament with the United States Under-20 National Team.
Following is a breakdown of the college players on the three teams that will join the Under-20 U.S. National Team in the adidas MLS Player Combine round-robin tournament (alternates will be called upon in the case a player is unable to attend the Combine due to injuries or national team call-ups). Teams have been broken down based on geographical location into East, Central and West squads. MLS coaches will assist in managing the three teams during the course of the three-day competition.
