LeAnne Olson is in her second year as a graduate assistant to academics with the Marshall women's basketball team. She previously spent three years as a counselor with the Buck Harless Student-Athlete Program.
A Huntington, W.Va., native, Olson received her Regent Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English from Marshall. She is currently working on a Master of Arts in Counseling at Marshall.
"LeAnne is the cog that makes all of our academic work run smoothly," Royce Chadwick said. "She knows the ins and outs of the university and helps us coordinate with the Buck Harless program to make sure our players are being student-athletes first and not athlete-students.
"Without LeAnne, our graduation rate would not be as strong as it is."
Olson first worked for the Community and Technical College as an instructor of developmental English and math before joining the athletic department. Her father, Lee Olson, has been a professor at Marshall for more than 30 years.
