Matt Daniel, head coach
Opening statement
“You are who you are when adversity hits.  That’s what defines who you are as a person, as a team and as a program, or a family, as we call it. It’s just growing pains. I think anytime you hold someone to 53 points you ought to win a game.  I also don’t think you can let anyone score 27 points on you, but as you can tell, we’re a work in progress and it’s going to be a long, long process. The more we compete and the more we learn, and the more we grow, the better it can be more immediately. We’re not there yet by a long stretch.”

On turnovers and assists; when to go and when to slow down
“We honestly had better flow in practice before we started playing. I think we’re pressing a little bit too much on offense, we’re hanging on every shot. I don’t know what we were from the field but it’s not good enough. We take the same amount of field goals and we didn’t shoot the ball very well. We’ve got to keep the flow and the tempo, it’s just like anything else. You’ve got to find a tempo and our tempo is not good. It’s not good on defense, it’s not good on offense right now but we’ll come back and we’ll go to work and do the drill over again and do the practice over again and next Sunday play again.”

On attacking the basket and shooting less threes
“The thing about it is they’re clogging the paint so much on us right now because we can’t get a shot to fall. You’ve got to get a shot off and we’re pressing so hard to get to the paint that it’s just crowded.  It’s the same thing that we would have liked to have done to them, and we emphasized to do it to them but we didn’t get it done and they did.  It’s the difference in one play.”

Erica Woods, redshirt senior guard
On Morehead State’s Terrice Robinson’s performance during the final minutes
“I was guarding her mainly throughout the game, and I kind of take it personally because I am a senior and I should be able to communicate with the younger ones. The plan was to switch everything, but it didn’t work out according to plan. She drove, but I went to block her and she made it. And it was a lack of communication on my part.”

Chukwuka Ezeigbo, junior center
On losing in heartbreaking fashion
“It just means we have to come out harder tomorrow and do it all over again. The next home game, we have to make sure we win that one because we’ve got the motivation from this one.”
