Thundering Herd’s Play4Kay Contest Scheduled for February 10
Marshall to face UAB
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall’s women’s basketball program will hold its annual #Play4Kay contest on Saturday, February 10, in conjunction with the 1 p.m. home game with UAB, the athletics department announced Wednesday.
All fans who wear pink will gain FREE admittance to the game versus the Blazers.
Beginning with Saturday’s matchup with Louisiana Tech (1 p.m.), Marshall Athletics is launching a number of promotions to help the Herd make a difference in the fight against the disease. Raffle tickets for an Apple iWatch will be on sale at all women’s basketball home games (5 tickets for $5 and 20 for $10), along with a silent auction for pink shooting shirts and a made free throw campaign. Fans can get involved all January and through the Play4Kay game, at which point the watch raffle will be concluded.
“I am really excited about our commitment to partnering with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund this year to raise awareness and funds for all women’s cancers,” said Marshall head coach Tony Kemper. “Each of us has been affected by this devastating disease, and through our sport, we can help shine the light on finding a cure. I look forward to our players, staff and fans getting involved together!”
Play4Kay is the largest fundraising initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Fund was founded in 2007 from the vision of Kay Yow, the former NC State University head women’s basketball coach who passed away from the disease in January 2009. The money raised will go toward the Fund’s mission of extending and improving the lives of those battling cancer.
