Marshall Returns Home for Contest against Rice|

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – After taking five straight losses, the Marshall women’s basketball team looks to turn things around with a game against Rice in the Cam Henderson Center on Thursday evening. The match-up is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Marshall enters the game with a 12-8 (3-4 C-USA) record after most recently taking two losses on the road against Memphis and Tulane. The Herd will be looking to get their first win since January 11 against Southern Miss.
The Herd will look to use its accuracy from behind the arc to gain an advantage over the Owls. Marshall currently ranks second in Conference USA in three-point field goal percentage with a 32.4 percent average after making 88-of-272 for the season.
Senior guard, Lateidra Elliott, leads the league in three-pointer accuracy with a 44.4 percent mark after making 20-of-45. Elliott and fellow guard, Jasmine Shaw, have a team-high 7.3 points per game.
Rice recently pushed over the .500 mark with a win on the road over Houston this past Saturday. The Owls sit at 11-10 (5-3 C-USA) for the season and have won three games in a row. Rice is averaging 61.6 points per game and is shooting 34.0 percent from the field for the year.
The Owls lead the league in steals with 11.9 per game and are forcing their opposition to turn the ball over more than 20 times during games.
Rice is led by Jessica Kuster who ranks second in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. The sophomore forward is shooting 43.0 percent from the field and leads the team on the boards with 11.3 rebounds per game and on defense with 39 blocks.
