MAC East Division Leader Kent State Comes Calling For Marshall Women

    HUNTINGTON, W.VA.-The Marshall women’s basketball team hopes to build on Saturday’s win over Ball State when they take on MAC East Division leader Kent State Wednesday night in the Henderson Center. Marshall is 8-14, 4-7 in Mid-American Conference play, while the Golden Flashes enter the game with a 13-9 overall record, 8-3 in the MAC.

    Kent State leads the all-time series, 13-2, and won the first meeting between the two schools earlier this season at Kent on January 13th, 65-44. The Golden Flashes have won 11 consecutive games over the Thundering Herd, with MU’s last win coming in 1978-79 (76-72). Kent State enters Wednesday’s contest with a 13-9 overall record, 8-3 in Mid-American Conference play, and the winners of three straight.

    Marshall, winners of three out of their last five games, scored their highest halftime and game point totals, 86 and 47, respectively, in the Herd’s upset win over the Cardinals. Sikeetha Shepard-Hall leads MU in scoring, averaging 13.8 points per game, while Catie Knable leads Marshall on the boards, averaging a MAC-best 9.4 rebounds per game. Knable, who was named MAC East Division Co-Player of the Week for her play against Western Michigan and Ball State, has also tallied three consecutive double-doubles.
