Weaver Named to C-USA All-Freshman Team|

IRVING, Texas – Freshman guard Shay Weaver was announced to Conference USA’s All-Freshman team on Sunday afternoon.
Weaver is a 5-9 guard from Arlington, Texas and has been a major contributor this season to the Marshall women’s basketball team. She has made a team-high 37 three-pointers this season and is shooting 33.9 percent from behind the arc.
Nearly 55 percent of Weaver’s made field goals this season have been three-pointers and the freshman guard ranks third in all-time history for made three-pointers in a game (5). She has posted 10 games with two or more made three-pointers and had 18 games with at least one.
“Weaver is very deserving and has been a huge part of our success as she plays both ends of the floor with equal enthusiasm,” commented head coach Royce Chadwick. “We anticipate a tremendous finish to this 2012 season and an outstanding career in her future.”
Weaver also contributed 76 rebounds, 25 steals, and 15 assists during the regular season and had a career-high game against UCF, scoring 15 points.
